Scott Statement on Collapse of Latest Senate Trumpcare Bill
“Republicans promised for years to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act with a better plan that lowers costs and improves coverage. The fact of the matter is that Republicans never had a plan that could achieve these goals. Just like the other failed versions of Trumpcare before it, this latest proposal would leave families paying more for worse coverage, strip guaranteed protections from individuals with pre-existing conditions, and impose a crushing age tax. This is not a step forward.
"Americans across the country have made clear that they do not want Trumpcare, and they do not want Republicans to pursue a highly partisan path. Democrats have urged Republicans to drop their repeal efforts and work with Democrats on real solutions that will benefit America’s working families. Today, Democrats renew that plea. I hope that my Republican colleagues in Congress will abandon their misguided repeal efforts once and for all and work on meaningful and lasting bipartisan improvements to our nation’s health care system.”
