Scott, Krishnamoorthi Praise Senate Passage of Workforce Development Bill
WASHINGTON – Ranking Member Bobby Scott (VA-03) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) released the following statement after the Senate passed the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, which will reauthorize the Perkins Career and Technical Education program.
“At a time when skilled workers are in such high demand, investments in quality education and training programs will provide more hard-working Americans the opportunity for good-paying jobs and financial security. We applaud the Senate for advancing the bipartisan Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, which will fund important and effective job-training, apprenticeship, and technical education programs that will support workers and boost our economy.
“Congress has a vital role in closing the skills gap and ensuring our workforce is prepared for success now and in the future. This bill is a major step toward fulfilling that responsibility and we look forward to this legislation receiving overwhelming support on the House floor.”
