*** MEDIA ADVISORY *** Subcommittee to Examine Innovations in Employer-Sponsored Health Care Coverage

On Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m., the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, chaired by Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN), will hold a hearing entitled, “Innovations in Health Care: Exploring Free-Market Solutions for a Healthy Workforce.” The hearing will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

An estimated 155 million Americans receive health insurance coverage through an employer-sponsored health care plan. Thursday’s hearing will explore innovations employers are implementing to control costs and provide higher quality coverage to their employees. Members will examine and discuss the future of employer-sponsored wellness programs, private exchanges, and other creative benefit strategies aimed at improving access to affordable care for America’s workers. This hearing is also part of the ongoing work by the Task Force on Health Care Reform to develop responsible reforms that will expand access to affordable coverage and lead to a more patient-centered health care system.
